Here’s how to take part in three simple steps:
How do I sign up?
Join the Strava Challenge
Join us on Strava for the CLIMB-IT Strava Challenge throughout October. Track your rides, race up the leaderboards, give kudos and join the chat.
Do I have to cycle every single day?
Complete your CLIMB-IT challenge at a pace that suits you. You can reach your pledged elevation in as many or as few days as you like. The choice is all yours!
Does it matter what sort of bike I use?
No! The joy of this challenge is that you can take part on whatever sort of bike you like, wherever you like. This could be outdoors, at home or in the gym and could include a road bike, mountain bike, Zwift or other turbo trainer, Peloton, Wattbike or other exercise bike.
What if I miss the 1st October start date?
This is not a problem. The challenge is to climb the equivalent of Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895m) by the end of October, so you can start whenever you want in the month.
Can I do a different distance?
Yes, it’s flexible, if you’d like to aim for even higher than Kilimanjaro or only manage to just get halfway up the mountain, it is flexible.
Can I take part in a team?
Absolutely, the more the merrier! Taking part as a team is a great way to keep you motivated.Challenge your friends, family or colleagues to go that little bit further and see who will climb the furthest! Why not share a ride with your friends on Peloton as part of your CLIMB-IT challenge and compete with others?
Can I take part if I am under 18 years of age?
CLIMB-IT is open to anybody of any age. The only thing we ask you to consider is your level of fitness - whilst it's nice to challenge yourself, make sure you pledge a distance that's realistic too. If you're below the age of 18 please ensure a parent or legal guardian above 18 years old signs up on your behalf.
Can I take part if I am not in the UK?
As a global movement, we very much welcome participants from other countries. You can join the Strava challenge from anywhere in the world.
It's free to register, right?
Absolutely! It’s free to take part in CLIMB-IT, although we do ask everyone who signs up to fundraise or make a donation to WaterAid. Every little helps, and will bring us one step closer to making sure everyone, everywhere has clean water in a time of a changing climate.
How often should I cycle?
It's completely up to you how often you cycle to complete the elevation. However you decide to reach your elevation, if it’s across several days or weeks, just make sure you're being realistic for your level of fitness and stay safe!
